Carrillo’s Last Minute Goal Helps Pilots Buck Broncos in Second OT
SANTA CLARA, Calif. --- Portland senior forward Ricardo Carrillo struck a majestic goal over his left shoulder and inside the right post to give the Pilots a thrilling double overtime victory over the Santa Clara Broncos Friday night. Carrillo’s goal came in the 110th minute at Buck Shaw Stadium in a nationally televised match.

As the clock ticked down in the second overtime, Carrillo notched the golden goal on a feed from the right wing. The ball slipped past the hands of Santa Clara keeper Larry Jackson and into Carrillo’s territory. The Prineville, Ore., native then flicked the ball in from six yards out to send Portland home victorious.
Portland junior forward Steven Evans got the Pilots on the board in the 37th minute with his WCC leading twelfth goal of the season on an unassisted blast. Santa Clara’s Ryan Masch notched the equalizer in the 81st minute, Santa Clara’s only shot-on-goal on the night.
The Broncos outshot the Pilots 21-to-12, but Portland fired off eight shots-on-goal to Santa Clara’s one.
