Amanda Zuidema Signs NLI with Women's Tennis
PORTLAND, Ore. --- Amanda Zuidema (Anaheim Hills, Calif./Canyon HS) has signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of Portland women's tennis team, Pilots head coach Susie Campbell-Gross announced. Zuidema has been ranked in the top 50 in Southern California throughout her youth tennis career.
Zuidema has played No. 1 singles on the Canyon High School varsity team since her freshman year and gone to CIF State Championships for singles each season. She was the Century League champion in 2010 and a league finalist each of the last two seasons.
A three-time team MVP, Zuidema helped Canyon HS to an undefeated Century League season in 2012.
She has had a very impressive youth United States Tennis Association career including a first place doubles finish at the 2008 National Open in the Girls 12 Division. In singles, she was ranked ninth at the u-10 level, seventh at u-12 and was top 50 at u-14 level in Southern California. Zuidema was also a finalist at the 2012 Lakewood Open.
Campbell-Gross noted that Zuidema will also be a great academic fit at Portland as she has a perfect 4.0 grade-point average and is a three-time scholar athlete at Canyon HS.
