Pilots Resume Homestand against Portland State, UC Davis
PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots women’s tennis team looks to snap a two-match skid this weekend as the current four match homestand continues. Portland welcomes crosstown rival Portland State on Friday and UC Davis on Sunday.
After winning the first two matches of the season, Portland has dropped the last two to tough opponents in Oregon and No. 40 Saint Mary’s.
The Pilots, led by seniors Valeska Hoath and Sabine Fuchs, look to bounce back Friday morning against the Vikings (3-3) at 11 a.m. Hoath and Fuchs are both 3-1 this year in singles play.
The UC Davis Aggies (1-4) then come to The Bluff for a 10 o’clock match on Sunday.
Behind Portland’s seniors is a strong core of underclassman. Freshman Saroop Dhatt has produced a 3-1 record so far this year, while Anastasia Polyakova and Tori Troesch each have two wins.
Overall, eight of Portland’s 12-member roster are underclassman.
