Waves Top Pilots
MALIBU, Calif. --- The Portland Pilots women’s tennis team picked up the doubles point and a win from freshman Tori Troesch, but the Pepperdine Waves handed the Pilots a 5-2 loss Saturday.
Portland’s West Coast Conference struggles continue as the team falls to 1-4 with an 8-11 mark in the WCC. Pepperdine, meanwhile, improves to 4-0 in the WCC with a 7-10 overall mark.
Portland’s top players matched up against ranked opponents as Maja Mladenovic and Nastya Polyakova dropped straight set decisions to the No. 40 and No. 58 players in the nation, respectively.
The highlight of the singles match came from the freshman Troesch, who disposed of Danielle Fenderidis in the tiebreaking set after taking the first set and ceding the second.
Portland concludes its regular season with a two match homestand beginning April 19, taking on San Francisco and Santa Clara.
