Pacific Twilight Results
PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Pilots had athletes compete at both the Oregon and Pacific Twilight meets last Friday.
At the Oregon Twilight, Jared Bassett won the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 8:57.64. Stephen Kersh clocked a season’s best time of 9:17.68 and finished fourth in the race.
In the top heat of the men’s 1,500-meter run, Izaic Yorks placed seventh with a time of 3:54.10.
Connor Whan raced in what was the marquee event of the night. The men’s 3,000-meter run featured 2012 Olympic silver medalist Galen Rupp and his Oregon Project teammate, and fellow Olympian, Dathan Ritzenhein. The duo went 1-2 in the race with times of 7:46.34 and 7:47.65, respectively. Whan finished 13
th in the race and had a time of 8:40.6.
Over in Forest Grove, Ore., several Pilots had competitive races at the Pacific Twilight.
In her first collegiate 3,000-meter steeplechase, Tansey Lystad came away victorious with a time of 11:19. On the men’s side, Andy Holstrom finished fourth in steeplechase in 9:58.47.
Julia Fonk went ahead and set another personal best in the women’s 1,500-meter run. Her 4:29.26 was second on the day and helps get Fonk closer to regional qualifying.
Running his first 1,500-meter of the year, David Perry set the standard for the rest of the field with a 3:52.41. Alex Bowns was a close second in a personal best time of 3:53.5.
Next Saturday the Pilots will compete in their unofficial WCC conference meet in Salem, Ore., at Willamette University.
