Pilots Rout CB Select in Gran Canaria

Portland raced out to an early lead and never looked back en route to an 86-20 victory over CB Select Thursday night in the third game of its Spain Foreign Tour. Senior forward Ryan Nicholas led four Pilots in double figures with 16 points, while Portland's smothering defense never allowed CB Select to get into an offensive flow.

Freshman point guard Alec Wintering finished with 13 points, junior Bobby Sharp had 12 and senior Korey Thieleke added 11.

The Pilots forced CB Select into 28 turnovers and 7-for-45 shooting from the field for the game.

Portland, which arrived in the Canary Islands on Wednesday afternoon, will take a boat tour of the islands with various water activities planned on Friday. The team will be back on the court for back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday to conclude the five game tour. Saturday the Pilots will face CB Gran Canaria and then Sunday will be against CB Select.
