CORVALLIS, Ore--- Corvallis proved kind to the Pilots on Saturday during the Oregon State Invitational. In the second outdoor meet of a long outdoor season, the squad looks well equipped for the next few months.

Redshirt freshman Danny Martinez ran, and won, both the 1,500-meter and 3,000-meter races. His 3:58.29 and 8:30.87 were the top marks on the day. Taking second to Martinez in both races was Alex Dillard. He ran times of 3:59.94 and 8:34.49, respectively.

The Pilots won both heats of the 2,000-meter steeplechase. Timo Goehler avoided all necessary barriers and cruised to a 5:58.57 heat win. For the women, it was Tansey Lystad who set the pace with her 6:54.10. Anna Luijten was second in the race at 7:10.56.

In the women's 1,500-meter run, Maddie Hibshman won the heat in 4:40.61. Later in the day, she placed fifth after running 2:18.17 in the 800-meters. Kent Nowak won the men's 800-meter run in 1:55.26.

Madison Leek looked strong in the women's 400-meter dash. She captured second place with a 57.76.

Thomas Blatner threw the shotput 13.46 meters and won his flight of the event. In the men's hammer throw, Triton Pitassi threw three meters farther than anyone else. His winning throw was measured at 45.80 meters.

In the women's high jump, Katie Lord placed second at 1.60 meters. On the men's side, Matt Winterer won the event with a jump of 1.90 meters.

Nathan DeVaughn won the long jump with a bound of 6.05 meters, and in the triple jump it was Matt Chastain taking the victory (13.92 meters)

Competing in both the long (10.70 meters) and triple jump (5.04 meters), Katherine Maus placed third and second, respectively.

Once the Pilots return from spring break, they are back in action again at the Mt. Hood Invitational (3/15).
