GRESHAM, Ore--- In a tune-up meet before a big end of the season push, the Pilots looked geared up for big performances after their showing at the Mt. Hood Track and Field Festival hosted by Mt. Hood Community College. It was mostly sprinters and throwers competing for the Pilots this weekend, but they made their presence felt.
A highlight of the meet was the women's 4x100-meter relay team. They placed first in the meet and set a school record of 47.80. The record-setting team was made up of Hannah Souders, Katherine Maus, Madison Leek, and Melissa Baller.
"It was great to see the ladies win and get the school record," said Coach Chad Colwell. "It was a good meet for our sprinters and jumpers to work on technique and try some other events before gearing up for the OSU (Oregon State University) and Oregon Twilight."
In the open 100-meter dash, Melissa Baller set her collegiate personal-best of 12.63. The mark moves her to seventh on the all-time school record list.
Korey Theileke won both the 100-meter (10.96) and 200-meter dash (22.18). Also in the 200-meter, Shane Fekete set a personal-record of 22.80.
In the men's 400-meter, Kent Nowak lowered his PR to 49.76. On the women's side, Hannah Souders also dropped her PR to 59.82 in the same event.
Kayli van Loo placed first in the women's javelin, posting a mark of 147'3". The mark was two inches away from the school record.
The Pilots head to the OSU High Performance meet on May 2
nd. Oregon Twilight and the West Coast Invite are the final two meets on their regular season schedule.
