Women's Schedule SEATTLE, Wash. --- The Portland Pilots Track & Field teams competed for the first time in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championships on Friday and Saturday. Multiple athletes had strong showings at the event and the distance medley relay team of Lorea Ibarzabal, Hannah Souders, Taryn Rawlings, and Julia Fonk topped the school record which they had previously set two weeks ago at the Husky Classic.
On Feb. 13 Ibarzabal, Souders, Rawlings, and Fonk beat the school record in the DMR with a time of 11:36, on Friday the group finished with a time of 11:21 and earned a fourth place finish. Ibarzabal led Pilots in the 800M with a 10
th place finish and a time of 2:07.37. In the 3000M, Anne Luijten finished first for Portland with a time of 9:22.07 in eighth, while teammate Tansey Lystad placed 11
th with a time of 9:31.66.
In field events, Katherine Maus topped a trio of school records in the 60M sprint (7.84), long jump (11
th, 18'5.25), and the triple jump (11
th, 38'9.00) to help the Pilots place ahead of Oregon State and Utah.
"Katherine had an amazing meet," said assistant coach Chad Colwell. "She had school records in three individual events and on the school record 4x400 relay team. She showed tremendous improvement in the long and triple jump."
On the men's side Woody Kincaid placed sixth with a mile time of 4:01.67. Cross country All-American Scott Fauble led for the Pilots in the 5000M run with a time of 14:08.96 crossing the line in 10
th place and in the 3000M Ryan Poland placed seventh with a time of 7:57.15. For the sprints, Korey Thieleke set a personal record in the 400M with a time of 48.20 as he finished in 14
th out of 32.
"The team did great," stated head women's coach Ian Solof. "We had school records, lots of personal bests, and we beat a couple of Pac-12 schools. All in all it was an excellent team performance in an incredibly tough conference."
This meet concludes the team events for the 2014-15 indoor track season. Tansey Lystad will be in Fayetteville, Ark. on March 13-14 to compete in the 5000M at the NCAA Indoor National Championships.
