Women's ScheduleEUGENE, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots men's and women's track and field teams headed down I-5 on Friday afternoon for the Oregon Twilight. A pair of jumpers in Katherine Maus and Nathan DeVaughn each won their respective events at world famous Hayward Field while Woody Kincaid ran a four minute mile to set a new school record.
Maus won the triple jump with a jump of 40-4 ¼ with the next biggest jump of 39-6 by Ta'Mara Richey of Portland State. In other field event action, Kaylie Van Loo placed 7
th in the javelin throw with a mark of 139-9 feet and DeVaughn won the long jump with a leap of 23-0 ½ feet.
For the women's running events, Grace McConnochie led a plethora of Pilots in the 3000 meter run with her fifth place finish and time of 10:06.58. Madison Leek and Hannah Souders placed 4
th and 6
th respectively in the 200 meter dash with times of 25.30 and 25.99. Brenna Symoniak crossed the finish line of the 3000 meter steeplechase in 7
th with a time of 10:55.25. Maus finished the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.12 which set a new school record. Tayrn Rawlings came from behind to take third in the 800 meter with a time of 2:08.66. After a false start in the 1500 meter sent the field of 16 back to the line, Tansey Lystad placed 7th in a strong field with a time of 4:23.82.
On the men's side, Timo Goehler was the top finisher for the Pilots with an 8
th place finish in the 3000 meter with a time of 8:22.13. Korey Thieleke just missed the podium with his 48.33 time in the 400 meter. In the first heat of the mile, Ryan Poland finished second (7th overall) with a time of 4:05.00 and in the second heat Kincaid ran a time of 4:00.76 and came in fifth (fifth overall).
