ESPN 3EUGENE, Ore. --- Woody Kincaid took to the track at historic Hayward Field on Friday night during the third day of competition of the 2015 Outdoor Track and Field National Championship. Kincaid finished the 5,000 meter race with a time of 13:49.54 which put him in 5
th place.
Kincaid stayed with the lead pack throughout the race and on the bell lap he made a move to take the lead, but a trio of Oregon runners pulled away on the back stretch.
The junior from Littleton, Colo. came to Eugene with the top qualifying time of 13:48.27. This was his first trip to the national track stage; however, he did compete at the 2014 NCAA Cross Country National Championship last fall where he helped the Pilots to a third place overall finish.
Kincaid was the third of four Pilots to compete in the meet, after seniors Korey Thieleke competed in the 400 meter dash and Scott Fauble ran in the 10,000 meter on Wednesday. Senior Tansey Lystad will be the fourth and final Pilot harrier to compete when she lines up for the 5,000 meter on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
