PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland women's rowing team will compete in their second and final event of the fall this weekend when the Pilots travel to Seattle, Wash., for the 2016 Head of the Lake regatta. The Pilots will four boats race in Seattle, led by the varsity eight at 8:06 a.m.
 
The varsity eight will compete against crews from Gonzaga, Seattle U, Stanford, Washington, Washington State and Western Washington.
 
The Pilots will also race a second eight and a third eight while up north, with those two events scheduled for 8:09 a.m. and 8:15 a.m., respectively. The second and third eights will face a similar field as the varsity boat, with the addition of Oregon and British Columbia.
 
Portland's varsity four will conclude the day at 8:44 a.m., and will square off against Oregon and Seattle U, along with a pair of crews from Gonzaga and three boats from Washington.
 
The three-mile course starts in Lake Union before winding beneath the University Bridge into Portage Bay and through the Montlake Cut to Lake Washington. That's where the course turns back toward Husky Stadium to the finish line near the entrance to Conibear Shellhouse on Union Bay.
 
The first Head of the Lake race was held in 1979.
