SEATTLE, Wash. --- The Portland Pilots women's rowing time concluded their fall schedule at the Head of the Lake on Sunday morning. Portland raced four boats at Head of the Lake, which takes part on Lake Union, the Montlake Cut, and Lake Washington.
Â
The first crew to hit the water for the Pilots was the varsity eight, which posted a time of 20:21.190 among a field that featured Washington, Washington State, Stanford, Gonzaga, Western Washington and Seattle. One of two Husky boats finished first.
Â
The Pilots' second eight covered the course in 20:40.778, while their third eight posted a time of 21:25.362, which was good for a third-place finish. A Washington crew won the second eight race as well, while Washington State's third eight took the top spot in that event.
Â
Portland's varsity four capped the day with a time of 24:22.147.
Â
The Head of the Lake, which was first held in 1979, features a three-mile course that starts in Lake Union before winding beneath the University Bridge into Portage Bay and through the Montlake Cut to Lake Washington. That's where the course turns back toward Husky Stadium to the finish line near the entrance to Conibear Shellhouse on Union Bay.
Â
The Head of the Lake was the final regatta on Portland's fall schedule.
