PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland men's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 victory over Weber State on Sunday at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center. The Pilots have now won six of their last seven matches and improve to 7-4 overall this season.

Portland opened the scoring by taking two of the three doubles matches. Sophomores Michail Pervolarakis and Mathieu Garcia won at love at No. 1 doubles, while sophomores Alex Wallace and Pierre Garcia clinched with a 6-2 win at No. 2.

Pierre Garcia doubled Portland's lead with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Stefan Cooper at No. 3 singles. Pervolarakis and Mathieu Garcia both won their opening sets, but were forced to third sets. Mathieu Garcia knocked off Todd Fought 6-2 and then Pervolarakis pulled his out over Jakub Gewert 6-4 to clinch the match for the Pilots.

The bottom of Portland's lineup cruised to straight set wins at all three positions. Wallace and freshman Carlos Donat have now each won six straight dual singles matches, while freshman Felix Fan improved his dual record to 7-4 overall.

"Today was a little tricky," Portland head coach Aaron Gross said. "Four of their top six guys are seniors and were pretty good at hanging in and mixing things up. Though we got the doubles, there was a point in the first round of singles where we split sets at No. 1 and No. 2 and Pierre's opponent at No. 3 was pushing him. We did a great job of maintaining composure and got through all of those matches and the lower half of our lineup was very strong to finish the day for us. All in all I think we had a nice effort against a veteran team that will be in contention to win their conference."

Portland will next head to the Golden State Invitational hosted by UC Davis on March 11-13.
