PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland women's tennis team honored its seven seniors prior to the start and then cruised to a 4-0 sweep of the Colorado Buffaloes in non-conference action Sunday at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center.

The Pilots (6-11, 2-4 WCC) set the tone early in doubles action as the freshmen duo of Radina Dimitrova and Tatiana Grigoryan won 6-1 at No. 2. Seniors Maja Mladenovic and Emily Gould then clinched with a 6-3 victory at No. 3. Portland was also leading the third doubles match 5-2.

Singles play was also dominated by the Pilots as Mladenovic made it 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the No. 3 position.

That was followed shortly by Dimitrova knocking off Jeannez Daniel 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 position.

Portland closed the match out at No. 1 singles as senior Lucia Butkovska capped an impressive weekend with another victory over a ranked opponent. Butkovska defeated No. 119 Nuria Ormeno Ruiz 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. The Bratislava, Slovakia native improved to 11-2 this spring in dual matches with the win. She also won in straight sets Saturday against LMU and knocked off the No. 2 singles player in the nation on Friday against Pepperdine.

The Pilots will look to continue their late-season surge with three WCC road matches over the next two weeks. Portland will travel to Pacific on Friday for a noon start and then visit Saint Mary's on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Pilots conclude the regular season on Saturday, April 23 at Gonzaga.
