PORTLAND, Ore. --- Earlier this month, USA Volleyball announced its coaching staff for their three U.S Collegiate National Team (CNT) programs, which will be traveling overseas this summer for competition. University of Portland's head volleyball coach Brent Crouch has been named as assistant coach for the CNT-Europe program.
The CNT-Europe team will be traveling to Milan, Italy, and competing against the Italian Federation Team from July 7-9. Then they will head to Pula, Croatia, to compete in the Global Challenge from July 11-14.
Â
The CNT-Europe team is one of the three teams that USA Volleyball has put together to compete this summer. The teams competing in the Europe and China Tour are comprised of elite players, while the third team will remain in the United States. These three U.S. collegiate volleyball teams are considered tryout teams for the full Women's Volleyball National Team.
Â
"This is a very high-level team composed of top college players in the country," Crouch said. "I am excited to work with them, while representing USA Volleyball. It should be a great experience for players and coaches."
Â
The University of Portland coaching staff has extensive experience with the national teams as each member has had some sort connection with USA Volleyball. This is not Crouch's first time coaching for the national team. He's been involved with coaching both the U.S. beach and indoor women's teams.
Â
Portland assistant coach Jeff Baxter has also assisted USA Volleyball with scouting and stats, while assistant Nellie Coleman was a member of the USA Volleyball team. Former UP assistant coach Nate Ngo left Portland about a year ago to pursue a position as the technical coordinator for the Men's USA Volleyball program.
