The matchups for the 2016 DIRECTV Wooden Legacy, owned and operated by ESPN Events, have been released, and the Portland Pilots will open against the UCLA Bruins on Thursday, Nov 24. The three-day, 12-game bracket tournament will be played Nov. 24, 25 and 27 at two sites in Southern California during Thanksgiving weekend.
Joining Portland and UCLA at the 10th annual event, which is hosted by the Big West Conference, are CSUN, Dayton, Nebraska, New Mexico, Texas A&M, and Virginia Tech.
The DIRECTV Wooden Legacy will be played Nov. 24 and 25 at Titan Gym on the campus of Cal State Fullerton, with the final four games being held at the Honda Center on Nov. 27.
Both Dayton and Texas A&M participated in the 2016 NCAA Championship with the Aggies advancing to the Sweet 16. CSUN, New Mexico, Portland, Texas A&M, UCLA and Virginia Tech will be participating in the DIRECTV Wooden Legacy for the second time.
The Pilots last played in this tournament in 2009, where Portland upended UCLA and Minnesota before succumbing to West Virginia in the final.
All 12 games of the 2016 DIRECTV Wooden Legacy will be televised across ESPN Networks (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3). Please note that the championship game will be played as the third of four games on Nov. 27.
