PORTLAND, Ore. --- Seniors Jeff Thies and Matt Welch, along with junior Logan Orndorf and sophomore Caleb Webb will open the indoor season for the Portland men's track and field team on Friday at the Hoosier Open in Bloomington, Ind. The four Pilots will compete in the 5000m in the Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse beginning at 4:05Â p.m. (PT).

"This is a big time meet with athletes coming from all across the country, said head coach Rob Conner. "I'd love to see our guys all run pr's. I think that is a real possibility. Just gotta run smart and use our endurance which means finishing strong!"

Thies enters his final track and field season after earning All-American honors in the outdoor 1500m at the NCAA outdoor championships last spring. Webb also competed as a freshman last spring finishing 30
th in the 5000m at the NCAA West Prelims as a freshman. Â

All four Pilots competed at the most recent NCAA XC Championships, finishing second as a team marking Portland's best finish at the championships in program history.
