SEATTLE, Wash. --- The Portland Pilots men's and women's track and field teams concluded their second day of the Husky Classic in the Dempsey Indoor facility with several personal bests and another school record.
 
Junior Jeff Thies (8:06.52), and Seniors Brady Johnson (8:07.23), Tim Ball (8:13.04), and Danny Martinez (8:15.88) each set personal records in the 3000 meter. Thies and Johnson produced first and second overall finishes, while Martinez had an impressive kick to win his heat.
 
Later in the day, sophomore Noah Schutte would also record a new personal best in the mile, placing third in his heat at 4:11.49.
 
"After looking at the entries, I told the team we were just coming up here to try and win heats and we were able to do just that," said men's head coach Rob Conner. "On top of that five of the six guys ran personal bests. As a coach you can't hope for much more than that."
 
On the women's side, junior Taryn Rawlings ran a strong mile to set another PR of 4:43.14, breaking the previous all-time record, which she set a few weeks ago at the UW Invite, of 4:45.72. Madison Leek, who set a new school record on Friday at the Husky Classic in the 200 meter, also won her heat today in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.49.
 
The Pilots will compete next at the MPSF Championships on Feb. 24-25.
