SEATTLE, Wash. --- The Portland Pilots men's and women's track and field teams concluded their first day of the MPSF track and field championships earlier this evening in the Dempsey Indoor facility. The majority of Pilots posted impressive times to register personal records, while five new Pilots made their marks in the All-Time UP Indoor record books.

Madison Leak started off the meet with a stellar performance in the women's 60-meter dash. Her time of 7.88 launches her into the second spot on the UP all-time list.

Juniors Grace McConnochie and Mathilde Sagnes continued the record-breaking momentum in the 5,000-meter producing PRs of 16:33.92 and 16:48.44, respectively. Their performances also landed both of them in the record books, McConnochie in second and Sagnes eighth.

Grace Bley led the charge in the women's sprints, posting a PR of 26.06 in the 200-meter dash, which puts her fifth in the record books. Freshmen Maya Murphy-Cook and Michal Jones both PR'd in the 200m with times of 26.64 and 27.01. Cook-Murphy also got a personal best in the long jump, with a mark of 4.93m.

"Grace McConnochie had the performance of the day for us with her big PR in the 5000," said women's head coach Ian Solof. "Mathilde Sagnes also did a great job with a PR in the same race. Madison Leek and Grace Bley both impressed me in their spring races."

On the men's side, Jeff Thies continued his successful indoor season with an indoor PR of 14:04.01 in the Men's 5k. and an overall fifth-place finish. This places him 9th in the all-time record books. Several other Pilots also achieved exceptional PRs in the 5000 meter including seniors Tim Ball (14:08.83), Brady Johnson (14:08.83), Alex Dillard (14:22.25), sophomores Sam Lomax (14:37.36) and Joe Horen (14:49.77), and freshmen Trisan Peloquin (14:16.98) and Reuben Kiprono (14:50.90).

"The guys did a great job in the 5000," said men's head coach Rob Conner. "We ended up with most of them getting personal bests. Thies and Tim got us on the board, which is impressive. That was also Tristan's first college 5000 and to start at 14:16 is fantastic!"
