STANFORD, Calif. --- Senior Anna Farello, junior Taryn Rawlings, and sophomore Noah Schutte each landed in the UP record books in their respective events today to conclude the Stanford Invitational at Cobb Track and Angell Field.
Â
"Both Taryn and Anna had excellent races and ran qualifiers for the NCAA first round," said women's head coach Ian Solof Taryn's 5K time was the fastest debut performance we're ever had and Anna ran a perfect race and a big PR in the 10k."
Â
Farello, who previously sat third all-time in the 10,000 meter, finished fourth (33:44.75) overall in the 10,000 to produce a new personal record and move up to second in the Portland record books. Rawlings earlier in the day also jumped to fourth all-time with her 11
th place performance in the 5000m (16:08.39). Schutte then closed out the evening by running another exceptional race with a seventh place finish to put him 10
th all-time (29:05.17) Â in the 10,000m at Portland.
"Hopefully that's four for four on regional qualifiers," said men's head coach Rob Conner. "Fantastic running by the guys! Jeff will be right on the bubble with his 5000. It was an outdoor PR by :06. Last year 14:05 was the final spot to regionals. Brady was in the fastest 10,000 heat and went out a little too fast coming through 5000 in 14:20 but helf on for a :01 PR in 29:19. If he had been in the other heat, I'm sure he would have run :20 faster. Noah and Tim ran together most of the way in the second section of the 10,000 and both got big PRs. Noah ran a :40 PR and Tim was about :25 faster than his time last year! Just really great running, focus, and effort. I'm very proud of everyone!"
Â
Junior Parkes Kendrick and senior Anne Luijten also competed for the Portland women earlier in the day in the 1500m, marking times of 4:26.44 and 4:29.68, respectively and redshirt junior Jeff Thies competed in the 5000m crossing the finish line in (14:05.14)
Â
The Pilots will next be in action on April 7 at the John Knight Twilight.
