PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots men's and women's track and field teams will compete at three different meets this weekend, including the Oregon Twilight on Friday and the Linfield Open and Oxy Invitational on Saturday.
Â
The women will start the weekend at Historic Hayward Field on Friday at the Oregon Twilight, featuring senior Parkes Kendrick and junior Taryn Rawlings in the 1500m and 800m invitational. On Saturday the women will head to McMinnville, Ore., for the Linfield Open where freshman Maya Murphy Cook, sophomore Courtney Vacek, and seniors Pauline Reiley, Kaylie Van Loo, and Corissa Turley will compete in the long jump, triple jump, and javelin. Underclassmen Grace Bley, Dani Castillo, and fellow sprinters will then end the afternoon in the 400m, 200m, and 100m.
Â
"We will have a small group competing Friday at UO and a few more Saturday at Linfield, with the focus being on the Portland Twilight next weekend. We plan to have Taryn Rawlings in the 800 this week and Parkes Kendrick in the 1500, but a lot of our top people will be resting."
Â
The men will also compete at the Oregon Twilight on Friday and at the Oxy Invitational at Jack Kemp Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif., on Saturday. Redshirt freshmen Jakob Hiett and Joe Horen, along with sophomore Noah Schutte will kick off the Oregon Twilight for the Pilots in the men's 3000m steeplechase. Sophomore Trent Mazelli will then race last for the men in the 1500m invitational later in the evening. Only the Portland men will then compete Saturday at the Oxy Invite, Â featuring redshirt freshman Caleb Webb, redshirt sophomore Nick Hauger, and seniors Alex Dillard, Brady Johnson, and Danny Martinez in the 5000m.
Â
The Oxy Invitational will be the only meet this weekend with video, streamed live on FloTrack.
