PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots opening game against defending national champion North Carolina will kick off the much-anticipated PK80 presented by State Farm on Thanksgiving Day. The game will tip-off at 11:30 a.m. at the Moda Center and be televised live on ESPN.

PK80 presented by State Farm, which is comprised of two eight-team bracketed early season men's college basketball events, will be played across ESPN networks, beginning Thursday, Nov. 23 through Sunday, Nov. 26. ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3 will combine to air every matchup of the "Victory" bracket, while games in the "Motion" bracket are televised on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. Games will be played simultaneously in the Moda Center and Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Ore., with the crowning of two champions.

The event honors Nike co-founder and 2012 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Phil Knight, who is celebrating his 80th birthday this year.

Portland will compete in the "Victory" bracket and will face either Oklahoma or Arkansas on Friday at Memorial Coliseum. The winners will met at 12:30 p.m., while the consolation game is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Sunday's games will have the winners bracket games played at Moda Center, while consolation brackets will take place at the Memorial Coliseum. The other four teams in the "Victory" bracket include Oregon, Michigan State, Connecticut and DePaul.

The event will be a homecoming of sorts for Portland head coach Terry Porter. A two-time NBA All-Star for the Portland Trail Blazers, who played home games at Veterans Memorial Coliseum during his career, Porter's No. 30 jersey is retired by the organization and hanging from the rafters in the Moda Center.

Porter is set to begin his second season on the sidelines with the Pilots and will have a lot of new faces on the 2017-18 roster after the program signed a decorated nine-player class to join four returners and two returning redshirts. The Pilot incoming class has been ranked as high as No. 10 nationally by Hoop Scoop.

The matchup with North Carolina means that the Pilots will play both teams that met for the 2017 NCAA Championship as West Coast Conference rival Gonzaga made its first trip to the title game last year. The Bulldogs are the WCC's other representative at PK80 and will play in the "Motion" bracket.

• Participants include three 2017 NCAA Final Four teams (National Champion North Carolina, Runner-up Gonzaga, and Oregon)
• Also, earning berths in the 2017 NCAA Tournament was Arkansas, Butler, Duke, Florida and Michigan State, in addition to field participants Connecticut, DePaul, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Portland, Portland State, Stanford and Texas
