SEATTLE, Wash. – Alabama defeated the Portland women's tennis team by a 4-0 margin on Saturday at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. The Crimson Tide, the first team out of the ITA Top 25 in the latest team rankings, improved to 9-1 with the win, while the Pilots fall to 1-3 overall.
The Crimson Tide took the doubles point with 6-3 wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.
Alabama won in straight sets of singles play at the No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 positions.
The Pilots battled with junior Radina Dimitrova winning the first set against Smith Hinton at No. 2 singles by a 6-3 margin. She was trialing 5-1 in the second when the match was clinched.
Sophomore Jelena Lukic gave a good match to No. 89 Andie Daniell at the top of the lineup. Daniell won 7-5 in the first set and the score was tied at 2-2 in the second set when the match was determined.
The road trip doesn't get easier for Portland as the Pilots face No. 24 Washington on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Huskies (5-2) defeated Alabama by a 6-1 margin and its two losses are to Top 10 opponents. Live video and scoring will be available at
