DES MOINES, Iowa --- University of Portland freshman Trevor Dunbar opened a big lead before cruising to the finish and winning the 5,000 meters at the 2010 USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Drake Stadium on Thursday. University of Portland cross country standout Tommy Betterbed was named the West Coast Conference Mike Gilleran Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was also presented with the WCC Postgraduate Scholarship, league commissioner Jamie Zaninovich announced on Thursday. Sophomore Alfred Kipchumba qualified for the NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in the men’s 10,000-meter run and junior Cori Moore advanced to the quarterfinals of the women’s 800-meter run at the NCAA West Preliminary held at Mike A.
