Portland sophomore Megan Sporndli earned second team honors in singles, while seniors Lindsey Griffin and Christina Feyen received honorable mention awards as the West Coast Conference announced its all-league selections for women’s tennis on Wednesday. Sporndli and Griffin also teamed up to earn second team honors as a doubles tandem.

The University of Portland women’s tennis team looks to continue its best season in years as the team prepares for the opening round of the West Coast Conference Championships on Friday at the campus of Saint Mary’s College. The Pilots earned the No. 5 seed and will face No. 4 San Diego at 11 a.m.

In a matchup of two surging women’s tennis programs, the host UC Davis Aggies swept the Portland Pilots on Thursday. The win marked the third straight and six of seven for the Aggies (10-6), while the Pilots (12-7) had a seven match win streak snapped with the loss.

The Portland Pilots swept Sonoma State on Wednesday in women’s tennis action to extend their winning streak to seven matches. Portland (12-6) has won 10 of its last 11 matches and continues to play well as post-season play nears. The Seawolves drop to 4-7 overall.
