Blog #1 – August 24
Please allow me to formally apologize for my blogging absence; however it is not without valid reasoning. We have completed our preseason schedule and classes began just about 3 weeks ago. It has been a big change for the freshman to get used to class and college volleyball, but we do our thang.
Let me fill in the past few weeks for you all, we’ve played in San Diego, Calif., South Bend, Indiana, and at home. We beat Notre Dame, which continues our all-time undefeated record against the Irish, a team who is currently receiving votes for the top 25. I even got the chance to play against my good friend Alec Goodrie, whom I have played club with for several years, she now plays for Seattle U, who we beat in three last week at home. Our associate head coach Mike King and his wife had their second child Xavier King just over 2 weeks ago.
This upcoming week we begin conference play with Pepperdine at home on Thursday. Pepp, currently ranked 19th in the nation, will be a big test for us, one we have been preparing for. Beating Notre Dame was a great practice for conference play, they are a high level team with lots of potential.
I think we are all anxiously excited for the upcoming series of home games and just conference play in general, however, if a natural disaster or something of that nature does happen mid season and we don’t do as well as we planned or are going to, it is nice to know our team has a very realistic chance making it in the dancing world, particularly in the area of music videos.
We all have stellar portfolios of modern dance videos. You can find us honing and perfecting our skills at all times here on The Bluff, at the Cove, in the locker room, even walking to class. We like all types of interpretive dance as well, we never deny a chance to improve, we are never satisfied with our skills and we always jump at the chance to learn new moves from our classmates. It is comforting to see all our friends and fellow student athletes surround us with the most updated moves.
So c
ome out and watch the VBG’s battle with the waves on Thursday!
