Women’s Hoops Recruit Cassandra Brown Named to Canadian Junior National Team
PORTLAND, Ore. --- Cassandra Brown, who has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Portland Pilots women’s basketball team as a freshman next fall, has been named to the 2010 Canadian Junior Women’s National Team. Brown and the junior national team are set to play exhibition games against the U.S. and Brazil before competing at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship.

Huskies Knock Pilots out of the WBI

Pilots to Play at Washington in WBI First Round
The Portland Pilots (18-12, 7-7 WCC), who are making the 10th post-season visit in program history and seventh at the NCAA Division I level, will travel to Seattle, Wash., on Wednesday to face the Washington Huskies (12-17, 7-11 Pac-10) in the First Round of the inaugural 16-team Women’s Basketball Invitational. Tip-off between the Pilots and Huskies is set for 6:00 p.m. at Bank of America Arena.

PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots have been invited to play in the inaugural Women’s Basketball Invitation and will play the Washington Huskies in a first round game at Bank of America Arena in Seattle, Wash., on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. The Pilots, who are 18-12 overall and went 7-7 in the West Coast Conference, are making their second straight post-season appearance after advancing to the WNIT last season.

Big Second Half Propels Santa Clara Past Pilots at WCC Championships

LAS VEGAS, Nev. --- After trailing by five at the half, the Santa Clara Broncos used a big second-half run to defeat the Portland Pilots 74-61 in the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference Championships at the Orleans Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Pilots end the year with an 18-12 overall record and register the most wins in a season since the 1997-98 campaign.

The Portland Pilots earned the league’s No. 4 seed and received a first-round bye at this weekend’s West Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Championships at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. The Pilots advance straight the quarterfinals on Saturday, March 6, and will face either the No. 5 San Diego Toreros or the No. 8 Santa Clara Broncos, who play in the first round on Friday.
