The University of Portland cross country program continued its annual volunteering at the Race for the Cure fundraising event as approximately 25 runners from the men’s and women’s teams lent a helping hand at the Portland event on September 21. The UP volunteers helped with bib-labeling prior to the event and with various manual labor tasks leading up to and during the event.
The Komen Race for the Cure Series raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship, and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease. This year marked the 25th anniversary of the Komen Race for the Cure, the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world, with well over 1 million participants since 2005.
