Hi everyone! Midterms are over and it is officially the week of fall break! We have been preparing all week for our match against the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Saturday. It is our “Dig Pink” game and I hope to see all of you out to watch in your best pink gear! When I first decided to manage the volleyball blog, I was told it might be a good idea for one of the other players to make a guest appearance as the blogger for the week, so with that said here is Kati Hronek with blog #6!

Hi Pilot fans! It’s Ron… a.k.a Kati Hronek. Autumn asked me to be a guest writer for her blog this week. As most of you know (or at least the ones that read the blog) Autumn has documented a lot of things I say, and most of those things are kind of ridiculous. I must admit sometimes I blurt out things without filtering them, but I’m just trying to provide entertainment for my teammates! Anyways enough about me, I’m here to give you guys a different perspective on our team… UP Volleyball through Ron’s Eyes, Ron’s Corner, Blogging with Ron… okay okay I’m done.
We are wrapping up our fall break and getting ready to play Gonzaga. Our practice this week has been pretty intense. We’ve been focusing on defense, and it definitely shows on our bodies; especially Kate Bostwick and Jess Ngyuen. Kate’s back and legs look like she ran through a field of thorn bushes while being pelted with paintballs, but she’s a beast so she can totally pull the look off. Jess’ body has random bruises and she has no idea how she got them (we call her the peach cause she bruises so easily). I myself got a little floor burn on the side of my hand which I’m pretty proud of, and I’m sure everyone else has little scrapes and bruises. But they’re just little reminders that we’re working hard and are ready to play the Bulldogs!!
Now it’s time to turn the tables and talk about our lovely blogger Autumn. She gets to talk about everyone else’s craziness but now it’s time you guys got to know the girl behind the blog. Autumn is, well how do I say this, she is just an entertaining girl to be around. There is never a dull moment with Autumn on the team. She has been having ankle problems almost the whole season. It started when we were practicing at UC Davis and she was going for a shanked ball (the court is one of those courts that are raised off the ground and is on top of cement). She was hustling to get this ball but accidently ran off the court and twisted her ankle. Ever since then her ankle, or as we like to call it the “kankle” or just kank for short, has been sticking around. She is a tough girl though and still plays amazingly through it and it has become the butt of many of our jokes. For example, Halloween is coming up and Autumn and I have decided that we want to dress up as Green Bay Packer fans. Oh and yes we are wearing cheese hats. We needed some cowboy boots to complete our costume, so naturally we decided to go to all the Goodwill’s in the area to look for some. We finally find some and Autumn goes to try them on except the kank won’t let her get them all the way on…. Or off. So we are in the goodwill trying to pull this cowboy boot off her kank and she is standing with one leg in the air, holding onto one of the shoe racks, while I’m using all my strength to rip the boot off of her. It was a pretty funny situation, not to mention everyone in the store was watching us, and once I pulled it off one woman next to us actually cheered “Yay”. We were laughing for the longest time after that, and that’s just one of the many ways Autumn keeps me and the rest of our team laughing. Well it’s time to wrap this thing up and I guess I’ll end it with, in the words of Autumn, “Stay classy Pilot fans!”
