PORTLAND, Ore. --- Former Portland Pilots standout and U.S. National Team midfielder Megan Rapinoe was named the Harry Glickman Female Professional Athlete of the Year at the 60th Annual Oregon Sports Awards, which were held on Sunday night at the Nike World Headquarters. The Oregon Sports Awards featured 26 award presentations in 19 categories.
Boston Red Sox centerfielder, Oregon State University alum and Madras, Ore., native Jacoby Ellsbury was named the male professional athlete of the year.
Rapinoe was the breakout star for team USA during the 2011 Women’s World Cup, registering a goal and three assists in Germany, including the critical assist on Abby Wambach’s overtime goal against Brazil in the quarterfinals. Rapinoe has scored 11 goals in 39 USA team appearances.
Former Portland Pilots goalkeeper Kasey Keller was also a presenter at the show.
