What's good Pilot fans!!!!!
Â
Week two is officially in the books and our first game is tomorrow night. We have continued to work on our defense and have also started to work on some possession. AND let me tell you that we have never looked better this early in a season and we can only keep improving from here. As I stated in the last blog we have eight new faces on the team this year. Now I know throughout the season you will get to know them on the field, but I am going to take this time to tell you how they are off the field and personally I think they are pretty rad!
Â
Mikayla Elmer: Our team refers to her as "Elmo" and she refers to herself as "Beautiful." If you're lucky enough to follow her on twitter you are guaranteed to see at least one tweet a day about how beautiful she thinks she is. The girl's got confidence, and I admire it. Elmo is a quiet one but when she does talk she definitely has you laughing with her little comments. For example, in Sunriver we decided to float a river and it just so happened that it was a four-hour float. And of course we decided we would float again the next day thinking this time it would only take an hour, well four hours later we are still floating the river and it was freezing. Elmo just looks at Noelle with a straight face and says, "I'm not going to make it." At this point Noelle said that wasn't an option and proceeded to switch tubes with her giving her the bigger tube so she would no longer be in the water. Because of this Elmo made it to the end but I have a feeling she will not be floating any rivers anytime soon.
Â
Alyssa Edenstrom: Umm, where to begin with Alyssa… Let's just say if she is in the room you will know because you'll be able to hear her, in a good way. She is a very loud, funny, sometimes a little naive, but definitely always a happy person. Alyssa also has a big obsession with minions from Despicable Me. Sometimes you can catch her casually saying BEE-DOO BEE-DOO and making minion noises. Overall, she is a great person to be around when you're having a bad day because you can't not laugh when you're around her.
Â
Parkes Kendrick: Aside from her Forrest Gump traits with him running across the country and her being able to run more than anyone I have ever met Parkes has such a sweet but goofy personality. If you haven't been able to watch the
meet the freshman video they did on her then you are missing out. Parkes has a special talent and it is definitely special because this girl can Irish dance. Yes, she has a cute wig and a little green dress with sequins and does performances. It is actually really impressive and I am just going to say it, I tried to do some of the footwork and fell so hats off to you Parkes. As I said before she is definitely a goofball and you'll be able to read more about that in her sidekick Ariel's section below.
Â
Ellie Boon: Sweet ol' Ellie. She is the girl-next-door sweetheart that all our mums want us to be friends with and the girl you want your son to date. She is always down to get out and do things with the team and go out of her comfort zone. Over summer Ellie took the freshmen back to her house for a home cooked meal and introduced them all to her fainting goats…. She has pet goats and they faint…. THAT'S PRETTY DANG COOL! Ellie also happens to be my locker neighbor and another fun fact is that she is the first person to have #8 since my sister, and because she is also a blonde we approve of her wearing that number. As I said before Ellie is the biggest sweetheart I have ever met and maybe she will be able to rub off onto me a little with all the time we spend in the locker room!
Â
Danica Evans: There are two fun facts about Danica I would like to share with you all. The first one is that everyone in her family has a first name that starts with 'D'. The second is that when she runs she doesn't move her arms and they kind of just dangle at her sides. She is still a very quick player, but she just has her own little twist on running. I tried to run like her once but all I really did was laugh at myself, so I give her props. Aside from her awesomeness Danica is a very laid back fun person to be around. I also swear anytime I say something dumb or do something weird Danica always sees or hears me. She laughs so I think that's a good sign, but I believe we have a connection, and I hope she feels the same way.
Â
Madi Hall: Ohhhh Madi, Madi, Madi you can't help but to love her. She is just such a sweet laid back girl who loves country music, which is a big plus in my book, and she is down for anything. She also has these really pretty eyes so if you ever get the chance to talk to her don't forget to look, but they are kind of hard to miss. I also find that a lot of people on our team are BIG cat people and Madi does not fall into this category. She is actually a cat hater and finds herself to be a dog lover, so if any of you fans out there want someone to walk your dog Madi is your girl!
Â
Ariel Viera: Her class has said it and my house seconds it, Ariel is the weirdest person in the freshman class. Don't be fooled because our team embraces the weird in each other, but her weirdness does reach a whole other level when she and Parkes are together. For example, on our team trip to Sunriver before bed they would each say a sentence and go back and forth to create a story. I was lucky enough to hear one about a dog, who ran away and I think he died but then it was inception so he didn't die? I am not quite sure but it was definitely out there. Aside from her awesomeness Ariel is one of the sweetest people I know and our team can always look at her to be positive and keep us going when we are down.Â
Â
Allison Wetherington: With our team she goes by "Nutter". I am not exactly sure where it comes from but it somehow just fits her perfectly. Nutter is the type of person that you just always want around. Today I even commented on how I just wish I could put her in a backpack and take her everywhere I go. If you went up to her to talk you'd probably only get five words out of her in about a 10-minute conversation, but that's how she is, just simple. She will come out of nowhere, make some comments nonchalantly and they will be the funniest thing you've ever heard, and she doesn't even laugh. I do have to say out of everyone she does get picked on the most by the team, but it's because there is just so much love for her.
Â
So there you have it fans, our freshman class, hope you'll learn to love them as much as we do because they are pretty amazing! I also hope to see you in the stands tomorrow night to get your first look at the 2013 Pilots!!!!!!!
