Women's ReleasePORTLAND, Ore. --- The University of Portland will host a celebration to honor the success of the men's and women's cross country teams at the NCAA National Championship this past weekend. The reception will take place Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 3:30 to 4:30 in the Chiles Center Mezzanine and will include speakers from the coaching staff and student athletes.
The 2014 NCAA National Championship marked a record setting year for both the men's and women's programs. The men's team finished 3
rd which marks the best finish in program history and the first time that the University has made it to the podium. Two male Pilots earned All-American honors in Scott Fauble who finished 13
th and Reid Buchanan who crossed the line in 26
th.
On the women's side, Tansey Lystad placed 15
th overall which is the highest finish by a Portland women's cross country runner in program history. Lystad also received All-American honors and is the first Pilot to do so since 1994.
