Oct. 9, 2015Hello,
Last week was the start of conference play, which means we only have seven more guaranteed games. That means we only have seven more guaranteed games with our seniors. That is super sad because we LOVE our seniors. So, so much. They are not only great players, but they are great leaders, friends, and people. That's why every game we play is for them. We play every game with the intent of extending our season so we can get as many games as we can with the ones who lead us through everything.
This year our senior class technically consists of two seniors, Haylee and Noelle, because DJ is a redshirt junior. But to us, DJ is considered a senior.

A little about each senior:
Noelle is probably the quietest of the three. But she leads by setting a great example for the rest of us. If you've watched any of our games, you've probably picked up on her killer speed. She is probably the speediest and one of the most fit on the team. 1-v-1's versus Nole are terrifying because once she's by you, she's by you.
Something you probably wouldn't know about Noelle is that she is an amazing singer. She is pretty shy about it, but when she agrees to share her talents with us, we are all in awe. Nole, you could be the next Demi Lovato (coming from me this is a huge compliment because I love Demi).
Something about Noelle that doesn't match up with her speed on the pitch is that she takes FOREVER to get ready after practice. There is a slowpoke in every class: Nole, Ariel, me, and Lemon (Lauren). We are usually the last to get into the shower, last to get out, last to get dressed, and last to leave. I don't see a problem with it; we just value taking our time. For this, I feel like we all have a special, slow, bond.
Dealing with Haylee on the field is equally as difficult as dealing with Nole, but for a different reason. If you've watched any of our games, you've probably also noticed that Haylee is one of the best shot blockers ever. She literally throws her body in front of every shot. So if you get a shot off that isn't touched by Haylee, it is something to be celebrated.
Haylee's hard work on the field is equally translated to life off the field. If we're not at practice and you need to find Haylee, your best bet (and it's usually right 99% of the time) is to go to the library. She is always working her butt off and if anyone needs a lesson in work ethic, you should def hit Haylee up.
Haylee is actually one of my faves. She always keeps it real and has a dry humor that always has me laughing. Hay, you're the best.
DJ is straight up hilarious. I think I laugh because of DJ every day. Whether it is a facial expression in response to someone's ridiculousness, a sassy comment, one of her stories, or a text from her suggesting a storm trooper Halloween costume, it is always funny to me. DJ is also very supportive of my Kanye love and we are going to buy Yeezy 2020 shirts next week (He's running for president in 2020 and they are a Lloyd Center for anyone who is interested).
DJ is funny, but she is also very tough. Last spring she got a PRP injection in her Achilles, which I hear is one of the most painful things anyone could go through. She has worked hard to overcome her injuries. Her dedication helped her bounce back from her injuries that I don't think a lot of people could. Keep it up Dj, you rock.
Anyway, the seniors are an inspiration. I aspire to be as fast and fit as Nole, as hardworking as Haylee, and as tough as DJ. We play for you, seniors.
Deuces,
HGB
