Women's ScheduleCORVALLIS, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots men's and women's track and field team started off a two meet weekend at the Oregon State University High Performance meet on a beautiful Friday afternoon. Korey Thieleke and Katherine Maus continued their record breaking senior campaigns by each winning their respective events.
Katherine Maus won triple jump and beat the stadium record with a distance of 40'7.75". Korey Thieleke sprinted his way to a first place finish in the 200m with a huge PR of 21.18. This time also set a stadium and track record.
In other field events and sprints, Kaylie Van Loo threw the javelin just over 133' to land in 10
th place in the competition. Nathan DeVaughn finished in second after leaping 22'8.50" in the long jump. Hannah Soudersa won her heat with a PR and top-ten program time of 58.56 to come in 10
th overall in the 400m.
Portland showed well in the longer running distances as well. Three Pilots finished in the top five spots in the women's 800m invitational; Taryn Rawlings (2
nd, 2:10.60), Lorea Ibarzabal (3
rd, 2:11.16), and Julia Fonk (5
th, 2:11.73). Anna Farello won the 1500m by three seconds with a time of 4:39.99 while Melissa Hastings finished in third with a time of 4:43. Justin Rocereto nabbed eight place in the 5000m with his time of 14:32.52. In the men's 800m, Gavin Flynn placed second with his time of 1:55.48.
