THIS WEEK
• The Pilots play their final two home games of the regular season this weekend when they welcome the Pacific Tigers and Saint Mary's Gaels to The Bluff for a pair of West Coast Conference matches.
• First on Friday night the Pilots will face the Tigers at 7 p.m. at Merlo Field.
• Sunday brings senior day when Portland hosts Saint Mary's at 1 p.m.
• The Pilots will be honoring their five seniors with a pregame ceremony on Sunday.
LAST WEEK
• No. 8 BYU denied a Portland penalty shot in the second half and the Cougars received goals from three different players to claim a 3-0 win over the Pilots on Saturday night at South Field.
• The Cougars led 1-0 at the break before adding two second-half goals during the win.
ABOUT THE PILOTS
• Portland will honor its senior class on Sunday as Ellie Boon, Hanna de Haan, Alyssa Edenstrom, Devlyn Jeter and Allison Wetherington will be making their final regular season appearance at Merlo Field.
• The group, who entered UP as the No. 5 recruiting class in the nation, helped the Pilots win the WCC in 2013.
• Last Saturday's game was the 300th career game at the helm of the Pilots for head coach Garrett Smith.
• Smith is a Portland men's soccer alum who has been named WCC Coach of the Year six times; he's posted a career overall record of 215-62-23 (.755) in 13-plus years, while guiding the Pilots to a remarkable 74-20-9 (.762) mark in the WCC; he led the Pilots to a national title in 2005.
• Portland sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Lusby landed WCC Player of the Week (Sept. 26) honors after registering two shutouts on the road during the week of Sept. 19-25; she made 11 saves total as the Pilots defeated both Oregon, which was No. 16 in the RPI at the time, and UC Irvine 1-0.
• Lusby has three shutouts in four starts this season and she combined with senior keeper Hanna de Haan on a fourth blank sheet.
• De Haan, a senior from Leer, Germany, ranks first all-time at Portland in career saves per game (4.03), is ninth all-time with a career save percentage of .796, and is tied for ninth all-time in overall career saves with 117.
• Junior Hannah Griffiths Boston, who entered the year with two career goals, ranked in the top 20 nationally in goals earlier this season, and she currently leads the Pilots and is No. 3 in the WCC with seven goals.
• With three goals against PSU (Aug. 26), Griffiths Boston became the first Pilot to notch a hat trick since Amanda Frisbie scored four goals against Fresno State in 2012.
• The Pilots have registered two 6-0 wins this season, with both coming against opponents from the Big Sky (vs. PSU on Aug. 26 & vs. SUU on Sept. 9); Portland hasn't scored that many goals in a game twice in the same season since 2009.
• Those six goals against Portland State on Aug. 26 were the most goals scored by the Pilots in a game since tallying seven goals during a win over Saint Mary's in 2011.
• With home wins over Southern Utah and St. John's, the Pilots claimed the team title at the 2016 Nike Invitational (Sept. 2-4); senior Allison Wetherington was named the invite's offensive MVP, while Devlyn Jeter was voted the defensive MVP.
• Wetherington was named to Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week (Sept. 4) after notching a goal and an assist vs. St. John's on Sept. 4; her goal, which was the game-winner, was a corner kick that she bent directly in.
• Five of Portland's seven newcomers hail from the Portland metropolitan area: Lucy Davidson (Scappoose, Ore.), Rachel Khaw (Hillsboro, Ore.), Brianna Miyama (Hillsboro, Ore.), Natalie Muth (Scappoose, Ore.) and Rylee Seekins (Vancouver, Wash.) all call the Portland/Vancouver area home, while Larkin Russell (Spokane, Wash.) and Kimberly Hazlett (Bellingham, Wash.) hail from Washington.
• The Pilots are looking to return to the playoffs in 2016 after advancing to the post-season during 21 of the past 24 seasons.
• Portland won the NCAA National Championship in 2002 and in 2005, and the 2005 team was inducted into the UP Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, Oct. 1.
• Former Pilot midfielder Lisa Chambers is in her 10th year as an assistant coach, while goalkeeping coach and UP alum Angela Harrison is in her second season on the women's soccer staff.
• The Pilots have led the nation in attendance during 10 of the last 11 years.
