SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- Portland Pilots sophomore midfielder Kimberly Hazlett was named to the All-West Coast Conference Women's Soccer Second Team, while junior goalkeeper Rachel Lusby earned all-league honorable mention. Hazlett landed on the WCC's All-Freshman Team last year, and this is the first conference honor for Lusby.
Â
Hazlett, who originally hails from Bellingham, Wash., was also named to the Preseason All-WCC Team. She ended her sophomore campaign with one goal and one assist, and she was second on the team with 10 shots on goal.
Â
Lusby had a breakout season for the Pilots, starting all 19 games between the pipes. The Beaverton, Ore., native ranks second in WCC in saves (96), and she's third in both save percentage (.807) and saves per game (5.05). She recorded a career-high 11 saves during Portland's win at LMU, and she's posted three shutouts this fall. The junior currently ranks first all-time in UP program history in career saves per game (4.18), she ranks sixth in overall saves (159), and is 10th in save percentage (.783).
Â
Pepperdine's Bri Visalli earns WCC Player of the Year honors, ending a streak of three consecutive seasons that the award has gone to a BYU student-athlete. Teammate Hailey Harbison was honored as the WCC Defensive Player of the Year and Brielle Preece was tabbed the WCC Goalkeeper of the Year, the second-consecutive season that a Wave has earned the honor. Santa Clara's Kelsey Turnbow makes it two straight years that a Bronco has been selected as the WCC Freshman of the Year.
Â
Pepperdine's Tim Ward collected WCC Coach of the Year honors for the fourth time in the last seven seasons – including the second consecutive – after leading the Waves to the WCC regular season title.
Â
All five individual awards - including the all-conference teams - were voted on solely by the WCC's 10 head coaches.
