PORTLAND, Ore. --- Sydney Warren, who scored a record-setting 31 goals for Peninsula College this season, has committed to the Portland Pilots women's soccer program and will join the roster as a junior in the fall. Warren will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Pilots.
In her two seasons with the Pirates, Warren helped lead the squad to an overall record of 41-1-0 and to a No. 4 national ranking. Warren was named the 2017 NWAC Plyer of the year as a sophomore, and she combined to score 43 goals during her time at Peninsula. She was also named all-region this fall, and earned all-conference accolades as both a sophomore and a junior. The Pirates won the NWAC Title in 2017, and claimed the NWAC North Division in 2016 and 2017.
"Sydney brings a different type of pace and the ability to score goals and create goals for others," Portland assistant coach Lisa Chambers said about Warren, who tallied five hat tricks this season. "She works very hard and has demonstrated a unique ability to score. We are very excited to have her here at Portland and we're excited to see her raise her game and continue to do that at the next level. We believe she will add a skill set that we need within our program and enhance our ability to create goals."
Originally from Maple Valley, Wash., Warren earned all-conference honors as a defender at Tahoma High School. She played club for the Rainier Valley Slammers, winning a state title in both 2015 and 2016, and the squad finished second at regionals in 2016.
