SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- Portland sophomores Cody Hawken and Matt Kelly and senior Marty Luckenbach each received West Coast Conference Baseball All-Academic Honorable Mention, it was announced on Monday. This is the first league all-academic recognition for all three.

Hawken is a business major with a 3.27 cumulative GPA. He led the team this season with 27 RBI's, while also claiming five home runs, 10 doubles, and a triple. Kelly, who led the Pilots with a .292 batting average, is also a business major with a 3.24 GPA. His 13 stolen bases, 28 runs, 59 hits and three triples were all team-highs, and he finished with 11 doubles and two home runs.

Marty Luckenbach, who acted as Portland's closer this season, finishes his collegiate career with a marketing degree and a 3.44 GPA. His six saves are tied for the ninth most in a season in UP baseball program history.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to their team.
