SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- Portland sophomore pitcher Kevin Baker was voted to the All-West Coast Conference Second Team after a stellar season on the mound. This is the first conference honor for Baker, a right-hander who originally hails from Pasadena, Calif.
 
Baker won a staff-best three games overall this season, and his ERA of 2.53 against league opponents ranks fourth in the WCC. His .238 opponents' batting average and 58 strikeouts against conference foes both rank fifth, while his overall average of 11.41 K's per 9.0 innings is No. 27 nationally.
 
Baker reached double digits in strikeouts three times this season, including fanning a career-high 13 at Pacific on April 30. The 13 K's are tied for the third most in a game ever for the Pilots. He struck out 11 in 6.1 innings against Santa Clara on April 2, and he K'd 11 more in 10.0 scoreless innings vs. Pepperdine on April 9.
 
Baker also had Portland's lone complete game of the season, and he ranks fifth on Portland's single season charts for strikeouts per 9.0 innings.
