Our last tournament of the fall season took place in Pismo Beach, Calif. We started our trip by flying to San Jose Airport. From there, we had to drive about 3 hours toward Pismo Beach and on the way we stopped for some yummy In-n-Out.
Once we arrived at Pismo Beach, we went to check out the golf course where the tournament was being held, Monarch Dunes Golf Club. The course has a 12-hole golf course called the challenge course with only par 3’s that we practiced on. We took the opportunity to have a mini dual between McKennon and myself against Rachael, Avery, and Bridget.
The Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational took place on October 4-5 and it was both a women’s and men’s tournament. Rachael came in 4th place, McKennon tied for 9th place, and Avery tied for 13th, which helped the team come in 4th place.
On our return drive to San Jose we stopped in the garlic capital, Gilroy to visit Dan McGinty’s (the Student Athlete Academic Advisor) parents. We have had dinner with them before and they are just great people. Dan’s mom always prepares an amazing meal and her famous cream puffs; which are to die for.
Sadly, once at the airport we found out our flight was delayed an hour, so we didn’t get back to campus until after midnight. It was a long way to end our fall season, but we will spend the rest of the semester training and preparing for next semester.
