Pilot Fans -
I would first like to thank all of the fans that braved the heat on both Friday and Sunday to come out and support us as we took on Washington and Oregon State. Friday’s game against Washington was a classic Washington vs. Portland matchup. We out-shot them by roughly 20 shots, but we still ended up tying them 1 to 1—even after 20 minutes of overtime. Then, on Sunday it looked as if we were going to tie again as the game headed into overtime tied 1-1. But, just two minutes into overtime Micaela Capelle had a great individual effort to get around three defenders and lay the ball across the top of the six yard box to a waiting Foxhoven, who then buried the ball into the back of the net. Getting our first win in four games was a great feeling, and now we are ready to do it again this Thursday and Sunday.
Thursday is going to be a tough match as we take on the number 2 ranked Cardinal of Stanford at home, in front of our student section, local fans, timbers army, and all of those who turn the television to FSC between 7 and 9 pm. Then, on Sunday we will be playing USC at 1pm to wrap up our home non-conference games.
Needless to say, these are two important games this weekend. When very important games come up in the season, there is usually an increase in the amount of motivational movies/speeches/YouTube videos that are watched. There are certain members of the team—cough cough Cloee—who happen to be experts when it comes to which of these movies/speeches/YouTube videos are the best. Below I have added a couple of links to a few of my favorite ones and I hope they motivate you like they have motivated me for the games this weekend.

And my personal favorite (I do not think that many forwards would choose this as their favorite):

It is going to be a great weekend and I hope that all of you will come out to Merlo Field to experience it.
Until next time,
