PORTLAND, Ore. – Buoyed by a nine-run seventh inning, the Portland Pilots took Game 2 from the Gonzaga Bulldogs 12-5 at Joe Etzel Field. The win evens the series.
JT Landwehr took the win, pitching 2.2 innings with no runs and one hit allowed with three strikeouts. Carter Gaston started for the Pilots, throwing four innings with four runs and six hits allowed.
The Pilots has 12 runs on 11 hits, led by a monster day from Brady Bean. He racked up six RBI's on a 3-for-5 outing with two doubles and a homer. Jonas Salk shined as well, going 3-for-4 with his 12th home run of the season.
How it Happened
The Zags scored the first four runs of the game, with the Pilots responding the third inning. Bean's two-run homer cut the Zags' lead to two at 4-2.
Portland scored again in the sixth on Salk's solo home run. Gonzaga responded with a run in the seventh before the Pilots exploded for nine runs. Bean scored three runs himself on two doubles, Tyler Howard added two on a double and Riley McCarthy and Spencer Scott hit RBI singles to make it 12-5 Portland. The Pilots shut the Zags down the rest of the way for the 12-5.

» Portland got three-hit games from both Bean and Salk. Bean's six RBI's were the most by a Pilot this season.
» Salk's home run was his 12th of the year. That's the most by a Pilot in a single season since 2008.
» Portland's highest scoring inning was the seventh, when it pushed nine runs across.
» Portland went 5-for-13 (.385) with runners in scoring position.
» The Pilots got four hits in six at-bats with the bases loaded.
» Portland pitchers faced 40 Gonzaga hitters in the game, allowing nine ground balls and 10 fly balls while striking out six.

» The Pilots' 55 home runs on the year tie the school record for most in a single season, set last year.
» The win ties the series for Portland.
