What's good Pilot fans!
I hope you guys are having a fantastic week and are looking forward to the weekend as I know we are for more than two reasons. The first reason being, after overcoming our opponents and pulling off two wins last weekend, this weekend we are traveling to Palo Alto, California, to take on Stanford, hoping to continue the winning streak we have started this season. The second reason is, as I stated in my last blog, we started school this past Monday… The first day of school is always such a bittersweet moment. I love having my friends back on campus and it is nice seeing more faces than just our own, considering we have been here for about nine weeks now. But at the same time there is always a lot of school work involved and balancing soccer and school is tough, but I know we wouldn't want to have it any other way being student-athletes.
Â
Being a junior this was my third first day as a college student, kind of weird thinking that I am halfway done because time had just been going by so fast. My first day started off by going to Vector Calculus, and believe it or not I really enjoyed it. My professor, Dr. Lee is a homie and I also got lucky because my best friend Ryan is in my class! Some of my friends say they love the first week because it's "syllabus week" and is really easy, but I am not quite sure what they are talking about because I definitely already have four assignments that are due by Friday and I've taken over 20 pages of notes. Each year I find myself not only sending my parents a first day of school picture but one to the coaches as well. This year Ryan joined me in the photo as we stand in front of the school's new library and like always he is making fun of me by trying to recreate my BIG smile himself.
For senior Sarah Bridges, this Monday was her last first day at the University of Portland. I asked her what it was like going to class that day, "I am excited because this is my last semester in Portland and I'm excited for what's to come." Sarah is going to be studying abroad for her second semester in Spain, and I would be lying if I didn't say I was extremely jealous. Below we can see her looking lovely on the first day and she said, "This is the only 'First day of school' photo I have taken in college. Ironically it's my last… had to go out with a bang!"
Â
Now on the flipside, Alyssa Edenstrom had her first official day of college on Monday so her outlook was completely different than mine or Sarah's. I asked her what it was like attending her first college class, she said, "It was a really new and different experience from high school, but it was great meeting a lot of new people from all over. It is also different because there is a lot more walking." Below we can see how darling and of course beautiful Alyssa and Elmo look on their first day!
Â
With the first week of school almost done, we are all looking forward to the weekend and playing another game and hopefully attaining another win! I hope you all have a great week and weekend and if you are able to make it to the game this Saturday in California against Stanford come out and cheer on your Pilots!
Â
Stay rad my friends,
Lo
