Let the games begin!!
Monday night was our season opener against the Concordia Cavilers. Despite the pre-game panic of the missing jerseys and the hunt for shooting shirts, by 6:30 p.m. sharp, at the sound of our peppy Pilot band we came storming into the Chiles Center ready to ball! (Yes, the case of the missing jerseys was luckily resolved just in the knick of time. As for the shooting shirts… thanks guys for letting us borrow a few. :) )
Of course, with any debut we were extremely pumped! Especially considering that we have had 26 practices – we were ready to play a game. (Side note: 13 Early Morning practices remaining – not that any of us are counting…)
Anyway, before we even took the court we were dished a technical foul, which I’m not exactly sure the reason. Apparently the new scoreboard was experiencing some lighting complications (editor’s note: it wasn’t the new scoreboard, it was the red light behind the backboard that wasn’t functioning correctly). Oops. Rumor has it that we will be awarded another T on Thursday for the same offense.
By the way, over the Fall Break a new scoreboard was installed. This will be this year’s poster picture, which features our spiffy scoreboard:
My girl Dani (ex-teammate who is on Concordia) knocked down one of two free throws, which put us down 0-1 before tip-off. However, we wasted no time to get numbers up on the board. Seconds after the tip LA knocked down a short jumper… Keish quickly followed LA’s lead by finishing off a lay-in, then TC with a 3, then Lex….
Thanks all for your support. It’s going to be a fun season!

Tuesday afternoon when I entered the locker room I found CB (yellow) and Lauren (of course, bundled in her Australian towel) cuddled on the floor taking a catnap before weights. We were all pretty exhausted after the game Monday. We then had to turnaround and be back in the gym approximately 8 hours later for good ol’ 6:45 a.m. practice. Clearly, a quick snooze was understandable.
