Hey Pilot Fans,
Long time, no blog! Goodness, I have been slacking – Anyway, as I sit here “full to my eyeballs” after an absolutely delicious Thanksgiving feast with my family, I thought I might as well fill y’all in about what has been going on with the Women’s Hoops team the past couple weeks.
Where to start?
First off I hope you had a wonderful holiday with family and friends! Although I had a great Thanksgiving with my family, I miss my girls. The team is down in Texas playing in the Houston Baptist Tournament. GOOD LUCK LADIES! (

By the way, I don’t believe I’ve mentioned that I’m still struggling with my injury from last season. So, while the girls are out and about taking teams down on the road I’m here doing physical therapy and rehab like crazy so I can be back on the court ASAP!! :)
Anyway, Coach makes an effort to play in everyone’s hometown at some point during their career at UP – and this time around our special road trip was to the South to visit the Brown family in Houston! And let me tell ya, the girls were pretty pumped to get out of cold, rainy/snowy Portland…
Facebook Statuses:
LA: “I’ll be there [Houston] 2moro, 71 degrees”
Lexi: “In Texas and the weather is 10x better than cold Portland”
Besides the fact that I’m missing out on the sun and some good ball, I am particularly bummed that I couldn’t tag along on this road trip because I really wanted to meet Keisha’s family. It is always fun to meet teammate’s families to see where players get certain characteristics, features, habits, etc.
By the way, thank you very, very much Ms. Gannis for the incredible Mexican feast Sunday. Ms. Gannis visited last weekend and spoiled us rotten! She cleaned the house, made us dinner and even gave us advent calendars – Nikki already cheated though... :)
Anyway, the reason why I really wanted to meet Keish’s parents is because I want to know where the heck she gets such strength and perseverance. For those of you who did not know Keish has a pretty incredible story.
Keish and I became close buddies last year because we were both on the IR. (Keish, I miss having a rehab partner!) However, Keish also missed a chunk of her freshman season and her senior season of high school due to an injury. So, Keish has not played a full season of ball in 3 years!
I’m not sure if Keish is aware of it or not but she has been one of the greatest examples for me as I have been struggling with my injury. I will admit that at times I am very frustrated that I cannot play, but seeing my IR buddy killin it on the court (
check our her stats from the WSU game!) inspires me to keep working hard, knowing that I will be balling soon!
Not only has Keish been playing great, but the team is also looking good! Oregon handed us our first loss of the season. Oregon was an especially tough loss for us because we believed that we could have beaten them and we should have!
Our next home game is December 1 at 7 p.m. versus Seattle. Last year was an exciting game at Seattle when we fought back from a 15-point deficit in the second half and ended up winning in overtime. It was an exciting game! The Redhawks will be looking for revenge – it should be another good game.
LETS GO PILOTS!
