Pilot Fans ---
It was a beautiful Sunday on The Bluff as 4,500 people showed up to Merlo Field to watch us take on Saint Mary’s College. We scored a total of 7 goals in the game as we beat the Gaels 7 to 4. Leading the scoring charge was Kaila Cameli who had her first career goal and a hat trick in the game. This win comes after a 2 to 1 loss we suffered on Friday night to USD. With these two conference games completed, our conference record is 1-2 as we head into the third week of conference play. This Friday we will be taking on our conference rival Santa Clara at 8 pm on Merlo Field. If you are unable to make it up to The Bluff, you will be able to turn your television to ESPNU (Editor’s note: Channel 411 on Comcast) to watch the game. On Sunday we will be traveling down to the bay area to take on San Francisco at 1 pm.
Although we have officially begun fall break, I learned a few things this past weekend. The first thing I learned was that people actually read my blog. While signing autographs after the game on Sunday, I had a short conversation with a nice woman who mentioned to me that her family enjoyed the blog last week and then I received a tweet later that day that mentioned the HOG versus FOG concept. To all of you that read my blog, I thank you and I hope that the five or so minutes it takes to read are worth your time.
The second thing that I learned is that my teammates are completely awesome. I learned this during our annual house tour which occurred Saturday afternoon. The house tour is an event where every pair of roommates dresses up as whatever they want to and decorates their room. Everyone then goes around to each of the rooms/house and shows off their room. This year produced some very entertaining outfits. Nichole and I were Villa Drummers complete with kilts, a drum, and a flag. Sippy (Emily Sippel) and Lorielle were Phineas and Ferb and somehow managed to find the perfect outfits in under 10 minutes at Goodwill. Mic, Frisbie, and Cruz were Abu, Aladdin, and Jasmine from Disney’s Aladdin. Malloy and Rebekah were two loving and adorable grandmothers. Sarah and Ellen were Jane and Tarzan from Disney’s Tarzan. Cloee, Kendall, Taylor, Hailee, and MO were a bridal party with Cloee being the bride. Halley, Dani, Kaila, Emma, and Kassi were a rock group known as 4621.
Until next week,
Erin Dees
